The Catch

FAQs.

What is The Catch?

A fishing companion app built in Darwin: live weather and wind maps, tide charts, trip planning, private marks and one-tap catch logging. It's made by a working charter skipper for people who actually fish.

Is it free?

Yes. The Catch is free to download and free to use on the App Store and Google Play.

Does it work with no signal?

Yes — that's the whole point. Everything saves to your phone the moment you tap it. When you're back in range, it syncs on its own. You can fish all day with zero bars and never lose a catch.

Who can see my spots?

Nobody. Your marks and GPS never leave your account. If you share a catch, other people see the species and the photo — never the location. Your spots are your spots.

Where does the tide and weather data come from?

Weather comes from GFS and marine forecast models via Open-Meteo, and tides from published tide predictions. If the model can't resolve something, we don't draw it — no made-up data.

Which regions does it cover?

The Catch is built in the NT and tuned for Top End conditions first, but catch logging, trips, marks and weather work anywhere in Australia — and the catch log works anywhere on Earth.

Can I bring in marks I already have?

You can add your existing spots as marks on the catch map today, and we're working on making it easier to bring marks across in bulk. If you've got a format you need supported, email us.

How do I get help?

Email ahoy@thecatch.com.au. It goes straight to the skipper who builds the app, not a ticket queue.
